Poor quality - made in Malaysia : Spode Christmas Tree 12-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4

It is a shame when a respected English china company sells out local workers & moves production to Asia.
The 'new' china and flatware is ok for Xmas novelties, but the heirlooms passed down from mom to the kids is a thing of the past.
The sad part is (like another reviewer mentioned) the list prices for this Asian junk are pretty steep.
I suggest taking your chances buying the old English-made stuff on ebay & hoping it arrives as advertised. If successful you'll have 'the good stuff' instead of mass-produced, inferior quality nic-nacs.

Crafted of Lenox ivory fine china and banded generously with 24-karat gold, the pattern features a white background sprightly bordered with a wreath of bright green holly and red berries. This twelve-piece set consists of four of each of the following: 10-1/2-inch dinner plate, 8-inch salad plate, and 12-ounce mug. Instead of a holly border, each mug features a bouquet of holly on two sides, and glows with extra gold trim on the handle and around the base. Ideal as a gift, this set starts or adds to a collection of Holiday gold-banded dinnerware and items for the home. The gold trim means the items are not microwave-safe but are fine for convenient cleaning in the dishwasher. Lenox backs its products with a lifetime warranty, and will replace any unsatisfactory item or provide the customer a full refund. In addition, under its lifetime breakage replacement program, Lenox will replace any broken piece that is in stock at 50 percent off the current suggested retail price. --Ann Bieri What's in the Box 4 place settings. overwhelming china : Lenox Holiday 12-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4

I bought the Lenox Holiday set for 4 last Christmas, as a treat for myself. My family loved how beautiful and extra it made our holiday table look. I read another reviewers notes who said that she remembered her family bringing out the holiday plates after Thanksgiving, and I thought: "what a lovely way to make the holiday season feel even more special." I plan to do this from now on and add to my Lenox set as I can.

I researched many different patterns before buying the "one" that my family will use for years to come and will form the basis for my children's Christmas memories. I picked the Lenox Holiday because I love how the creamy, ivory background of the plates looks more elegant than red and green against stark white. The pattern is delicate and so evocative of Christmas without being overwhelming or obvious. It doesn't exactly match my formal white table linens, but I bought a red damask set to use with my Lenox at Christmas and it looks just stunning. The ivory and gold trim is a nice change from my white and platinum wedding dishes that we use for other formal occasions.

My family now knows what to give me every year as well! Amazon has the absolute best price around. The price is so great that I plan to send my mother-in-law several sets as well for a holiday gift.
